Carl Grinter is an animation, visual effects and immersive media designer, supervisor, producer working across creative technology, production and post production and innovation as a consultant in the UK digital arts, visual effects, immersive media and virtual production sectors of feature film, documentary, advertising, marketing and music networks. Carl has worked at the leading edge of creative practices and emerging technologies, tools and their design applications from analogue to fully digital film making, tracking and implementing a revolution in immersive technology over the last 40 years.. 

Carl has been awarded a PhD for practice-based doctoral research specialising in the role of surprise in design, production and reception of Immersive Media from University of the Arts London. He has an MBA specialising in creative businesses, entrepreneurship and innovation and has founded and successfully developed three innovative design, visual effects and immersive media businesses. 



With the experienced team at Three Wise Monkeys, his broad international network of artists and his association with specialist VP studio Quite Brilliant based at Twickenham Film Studios, he provides a full range of immersive film making, visual effects and animation production using pre rendered linear workflows and real time animation game engines together with generative AI content workflows integrating practices in visual effects and computer animation gained over 35 years at the cutting edge of art, feature, high end TV, episodic and commercial advertising, museum and cultural projects. He is interested in telling new types of stories and developing technologies leading to greater digital media inclusion. Carl was previously Commercial Director/Director of Production at Rushes Post-production London (part of the global Deluxe group and previously Ascent-Media) for 11 years. He began his career working in 2D Drawn and 3D stop frame animated commercials, music video’s, feature films and broadcast programming for Hibbert Ralph Animation, where he was apprenticed
