VISUAL EFFECTS PRODUCTION

Visual effects production and digital post producing involves the bringing together of experienced creative, and collaborative artists with designers, animators, editors, compositors and necessary hardware, software and organisational resources for operation of a pipeline of practice-based activity with  individual workflows to enable R&D, testing, development with iteration, alterations and  revisions, ensuring all of the talent, resources and technology  are in-place for a seamless delivery, to an expectation beyond that of  a creative brief. As a creative role, it crosses over with visual-effects supervision enabling, empowering and ensuring the quality of design intent is realised in production. This involves leadership, organisation, communication, facilitation, technical know-how,  care, pride and creative design knowledge and understanding to hold people and productions in an atmosphere of open, comfortable, supportive collaboration whilst being inventive, ingenious, productive and resilient.

Standard Chartered "Opening Doors" Content Campaign Film

Standard Chartered Bank 100 second content film  produced by Chrome Productions and directed by Anthony Rubenstein featuring FPV Drone shoots on five different continents. Tests were undertaken on small and agile drones to work out lens aberrations and tracking difficulties as many shoots were proposed to be in remote settings. Shoot supervision of single or dual person drone crews were undertaken ahead of the shoot by Carl Grinter, so that each of the shots could be sufficiently tracked to place computer generated doorways into the dynamic shots. The doorways once created were 3D camera tracked to the scenes accommodating for extremes of lens distortion by CG team of Dave  Child, James Knopp, Jordan Minetti with Flame compositing, grading, VFX and online work from Flame artist Rufus Blackwell.

Nowness Glowing Man short film directed and conceived by Jacob Sutton with flame clean up and enhancement effects with flame artist Richard White and grade by Denny Cooper.

Nowness Lil' Buck short film directed and conceived by Jacob Sutton using a box room on a gyroscope with camera fixed and dance undertaken in the revolving box with Flame by Richard White and grade by Denny Cooper.

H&M Innovation Metaverse 15 second launch TVC directed by Albert Moya produced by Nicole Zakrisson at H&M with Laura Holmes and Suzy Patten at Holmes Production. VFX production required shoot supervision across time-slice shoot, model and snow performance stages and involved digital design with Institute of Digital Fashion, creative production with H&M, CG animation with Future Deluxe in London and comp at Mathematic in Paris.

Multimatic Motorsports Content film  was directed by Stephen Tyler for Chrome Productions and produced by Lauren Brooks, Robert Chew and Melly Cook to promote Multimatics revolutionary DSSV damper suspension technology. VFX production with supervision from Carl Grinter working with CG animator Dave Child and compositor James Knopp  to reveal the technology delivering  peak performance across race victories.

Axe Bodywash "You're Gold" 30 second TVC for director Keith Schofield and producer Kwok Yau at production company Cavair, undertaking visual effects clean ups and titling overlays as well as sound design and mix.

Dean and Deluca 4 x 60 second and 30 second commercials  undertaken using live action,. stock footage and visual effects clean up, compositing and grading to tie the commercial together for director Martha Fiennes and producer Pete Muggleston for production company Slo Image.

Amnesty International "You are Powerful" short film directed by Kim Gehrig and featuring green screen  of real donors composited into archive footage from actual human rights violations with Flame artists Rufus Blackwell, Leo Weston and Richard White and roto and clean up team.


Formula One Night Racing promotional film  directed by Richard De Aragues with flame compositing from Matt Jackson, Rufus Blackwell and Marcus Wood, Matte Paintings from Alex Jenyon.


Cadbury's Creme Eggs 50 years celebration commercial  VFX and clean up shots were completed for director Zac Ella and producer Phil Myers at Craft Films with agency Elvis Communications. CG artist Tony Landais, Nuke artist Alex Hulse & Flame artist Eldon Snelgrove worked with supervisor and producer Carl Grinter to complete the project.

BASF "Clean Air Initiative" 30 second TVC was post production supervised and produced by Carl Grinter for Dave Norman at Curious Pictures. Editor Tobias Zaldua edited the commercial whilst sound designer and audio mixer Duncan Cross undertook audio duties. Carl also post supervised the multi-language voice records and mixes with Duncan Cross at Three Wise Monkeys to produce commercials for all regions the TVC aired in.

28 Weeks Later feature film  directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo & featuring multiple blood splatter, zombie crowd replications, muzzle flashes & spatters, clearing of London streets of people & cars.

Unknown Feature film directed by Jaume Collett-Serra featuring VFX shots for epic van explosion sequence, car off bridge into water, epic car chase through streets, tram addition  and removal of car stunt rigs and safety bars &  lines.

A London Dream is Sky Arts Production directed by Benjamin Ealovega and Richard Wilson for St Martin's in the Fields Orchestra exploring London through their music to accompany A Midsummer Nights Dream interpreted through dance in the streets, parks, spaces and places of London. Carl Grinter supervised and post produced the on-line grading and finishing of the film for Sky Arts broadcast delivery with Brian King undertaking the grade and Richard Wilson undertaking the edit for One31 Productions.

Vanity Press "Pranayama Typhoon Soft Parts Wing Flap Fin" artwork was created by artist Fiona Banner (aka Vanity Press) for her shows in South Korea and Venice Biennale. The film-based projection was supervised by director Babak Goodzardi with editor Tobias Zaldua (who also composed sound designed music). Three Wise Monkeys compiled  the film with grading and online by Brian King undertaking clean ups and retouch to enhance focus of the artwork and match to projection set ups for each show accordingly.

Good Boy 30 second Commercial involved working with high speed compressed footage shot against on flat colour backgrounds , VFX involved separating the dogs to add a graduated backgrounds adding focus ensuring fur edges were clean on the compressed footage. Grading and compositing undertaken with Brian King on Flame for directors Jo Tanner & Michael Mieke for agency Dog Cat & Mouse.


Yumove "You move me" 30 second and 10 second Commercials  undertaking grade, clean up and post production production for stock footage based films balancing footage qualities and looks to create a good feeling TVC from director Jo Tanner at advertising agency Dog, Cat and Mouse for client Lintbells.

Compare the Meerkat promotional film for Batman Meerkat Movies was directed by JT for agency Pablo for production company Squire. The commercial was undertaken in one shot with the car rigged with wires to move in specific ways as the camera moved around the car. Three Wise Monkeys undertook the clean up of all rigs and of the background environment replacement  tracking this into the shots. Fire and smoke were added to the exhausts on start up with all titling for the promotion.

Coral "Roulette" 30 second commercial was VFX supervised and VFX produced by Carl Grinter with Paul Cheung at Fight Gravity films. The film required the orchestration of high speed bolt camera on a real size roulette tabletop  with separate passes for hands and sections of the commercial which had seamless transitions and wipes to create the impression of following the chips being laid into the ball in the roulette wheel.

McLaren 600LT Sports Series content marketing film VFX production for day for Night sequences, grade and post production finishing for director Jonah Whittaker, Producer Peter Doig for Diamond Black / McLaren.

Hyundai Veloster 30 second commercial  featuring CG car animation the Hyundai Veloster from Craig Travis & motion graphic design from Barry Cochrane for ad agency M&C Saatchi.

Yumove "I like the way you move" Commercial  -  Grade, clean up and post production supervision & delivery in a second commercial entirely edited and integrated from stock footage sources of dogs relationships and how we connect with them from director Jo Tanner at advertising agency Dog, Cat and Mouse.

Hateboards content commercial  publicised the misogynistic and hateful rhetoric of presidential candidate Donald Trump to younger audiences. Voluntary finishing work for film produced by Rachel Connors at B Reel.

ENEL Energy "Working for the Future" 60 second TVC directed by James Caddick with CG animation from Craig Travis, Digital Matte Painting from Alex Jenyon and  composites from Leo Weston into existing stock footage.

Fentimans Victorians 30 second commercial directed by Fern Beresford for Coy Communications with creative director Mark Denton. The 2D compositing and grading team undertook clean up and gave the  tinted hand cranked feel.

Hyundai "Building" 40 second brand film directed by Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern (32) at Pulse Films with grading by Simone Grattarola, CG robot by Andy Hargreaves & Flame by Richard White.

Hyundai "Big" 30 second commercial with computer animation giant objects tracked and animated into live action shots for ad agency M&C Saatchi by Andy Hargreaves and Craig Travis with Flame compositing by Matt Jackson.

Olympics 2012 legacy film "What if?" 30 minute short film directed by Max and Dania with grade from Simone Grattarola and Flame from Matt Jackson and Martin Goodwin

Adidas Stella McCartney designed launch film for London Olympics 2012 Great Britain athletics kit for all sports directed by Jacob Sutton, graded by Denny Cooper with Flame from Richard White.

Westfield Fashion 30 second commercial directed by creative team Tim and Simon and produced by Hans Elias at Annex Films for  the opening of Westfield Shopping Centre in Shepherds Bush London promoting their fashion outlets. Design undertaken on Flame with flame artist  Martin Goodwin.

Bold Spirit Dancer 30 second commercial directed by Howard Greenhalgh for advertising agency Saatchi and Saatchi in a departure from their FMCG product promotion, using dance movements to give the motivation for physical representations of the scent variations of newly launched products. CG undertaken by Andy Hargreaves and Craig Travis with Flame compositing from Derek Moore.

Find Any Film Awe 30 second commercial directed by Olly Blackburn at Great Guns using extreme high speed real reactions of audiences watching emotional and surprising  films and filming their reactions for home movie streaming service. Clean up in flame undertaken by Matt Jackson

Discovery Channel Chop Shop title directed by Tim  Kirkby for show about a West London car mechanic team that pimped up the car ride and the antics and sparks that flew from design and works in progress. CG undertaken with fire and sparks from Andy Hargreaves & Craig Travis, flame by Matt Jackson.

Orange "Stunt Rider" 30 second TVC directed by Dougal Wilson for agency Mother and featuring stopframe animation of paper characters and  environments with CG boat in bottle by animator Andy Hargreaves and clean up of rigs, compositing of animated passes with Duncan Malcolm using Flame.

Orange "Bear" 30 second TVC directed by Dougal Wilson for agency Mother and featuring stopframe animation of paper characters and card based environments with animation passes and rig clean up using Flame by Duncan Malcolm

Grolsch Dancing Bottle 30 second commercial directed by David Wynn Jones for MTP with producer Simon Mallinson for Leith Agency and agency producer Les Will. The commercial featured multiple bottles on rigs and complex camera movement using separate layers of bottle movement and spritz. VFX Supervision by Carl Grinter with Matt Jackson and Brian Carbin compositing.

Glenlivet 2 minute history animated film undertaken with CG animators Andy Hargreaves and Craig Travis animating all aspects of the journey into the golden amber liquid revealing all the heritage, stories, time and skill that goes into every glass with Flame work from Leo Weston, undertaken for Isabella Parish at Partizan Animation.

Live Earth "Polarbearman" short film directed by Big TV to highlight climate issues faced due to  global warming on 2000 with CG water from Andy Hargreaves & Craig Travis, flame by Matt Jackson

Samsung "Millimetres Matter" 2 minute content film directed by Richard De Aragues and Produced by Nicholas Unsworth at Mad Cow with flame work from Richard White, Martin Goodwin and Matt Jackson.

Fastweb Sperm 30 second commercial  for Spanish broadband service  which involved animating spermatozoa in a cheeky tongue in cheek take on the thrill of fast broadband, just like sexual thrills. CG undertaken with Andy Hargreaves's and compositing by  Matt Jackson.

Oskar Scream 30 second commercial directed by David Slade which involved uprooting trees, cars, flying rubbish and extreme wind forces to produce a punchy launch for this mobile service with flame work from Duncan Malcolm and Matt Jackson using assets shot separately in camera.
